Our Story

We met in Dublin back in 2016, and it didn’t take long for us to realize we’d found something special. In 2017, we made the big move to Amsterdam, starting a new chapter together in a city full of canals, bikes, and adventures. After seven amazing years abroad, we got engaged in 2024, and now we’re delighted to celebrate our next chapter back in our beloved hometown of Dublin with all of you!

Our Dam Love Story

The Beginning 

In the very early 90s, on opposite sides of Dublin, two children were born, little did they know that one day they would meet in the middle to say “I do.”

After meeting at the end of 2016, we planned our first trip together which happened to be in Amsterdam, May 2017. We quickly fell in love with the city and decided to move there a few months later. Imagining it would be for a year or two, we are still going strong nearly 10 years later!

The Canals and Chaos 

Some of the best years of our lives have been spent in this city. The friends we’ve made and the experiences we’ve shared here have shaped us, not only as individuals, but as a couple. We’ve spent most of our relationship here and wouldn’t change a thing… except of course, the Dutch weather.

The Travels

We love to travel together, and over the years we’ve racked up some serious mileage, over 40 countries across 5 continents, countless flights, trains, buses and cars plus a lot of football matches. From cheering in stadiums to exploring far-flung corners of the world, travelling has always been our favourite thing to do… and we can’t wait for many more exciting trips ahead!

Now onto the next phase of our relationship, after 10 years together we are finally tying the knot and we cannot wait to celebrate with you all, it's gonna be some craic!

We know not everyone attending lives in Dublin, some of you are traveling from Amsterdam and beyond! We completely understand that you may want to explore the city and Ireland while you’re here. We have put together a guide with some of our favourite spots, but please feel free to reach out to us anytime if you want personal recommendations or tips. We’re excited to help you make the most of your visit!

Dublin Pubs 

Dublin is famous for its pubs, and no trip here is complete without enjoying a pint of Guinness in one of the city’s cozy spots. Just a short walk from the wedding venue, some of our favourites include Kehoe’s, Donoghue’s, Toner’s, and Grogan’s, each full of character, great atmosphere, and the perfect place to soak up a bit of Dublin charm.

Restaurants 

Dublin has so much to offer beyond chicken fillet rolls and spice bags! We wanted to share some of our personal favourites with you. For a great steak, head to FX Buckley. If you’re craving Asian cuisine, Hang Dai won’t disappoint. Pickle is our top pick for Indian food, and for pizza, Paulie’s is a must-try. We hope you enjoy exploring the city’s food scene as much as we do!

What to do? 

We’re so excited for you to explore our hometown of Dublin! There’s so much to see and do, whether it’s your first visit or a return trip. For a taste of the city’s history and culture, check out the Guinness Storehouse, Trinity College and the Book of Kells, and Dublin Castle. Take a stroll along Grafton Street for shopping, street music, and cafés, or explore the beautiful Phoenix Park. And of course, don’t miss popping into a few of the local pubs for a pint of Guinness and a true Dublin experience!
